Awaiting Olivia

So, here we are, waiting for Olivia to come. The day started innocuously enough. We got up later than normal (7 am) and went to Chele's weekly appointment. The doctor checked her out and all was well. She even thinks Olivia is up around the 8lb range. Doc did a short impromptu Ultrasound to just check everything over. All is well.

We had BBQ lunch and headed home. We were both tired from the running around the past two days and lay down for a nap. Up at 4pm or so and I started working on Olivia's room while Chele stirred.

She called up to me and said she thought she had dribbled down her leg while we slept. She cleaner herself up and read up on the internet about water breaking while you're in labor. The article said to lay down for 30 minutes and if you still have discharge, consult your physician. She laid on the couch while I hung pictures.

About a half hour later, I hear the water running in the sink. I yelled down to see if Chele was OK and she was crying. When I asked what was the matter, all she could muster was, "I'm not ready for this" through the tears.... Time to go to the hospital.

She was great the trip over and during the check in process. Her nurse, Camille, had checked her in the bathroom and I guess they had talked about what was going on, but I was left out. I had to ask, "Are we doing this thing" before I got a response. Indeed we were. In for the long haul.

So, we've been here since 5pm and already had Demerol, a Foley, an epidural and I've gotten mad at least twice. It seems when they work here, they forget there is someone else involved... Namely me. More than once I've had to ask what was going on and I HATE that. Not only are we paying you, but I am intimately involved with this entire procedure, like it or not. And am I a VOCAL bitch when I need to be.

Despite it all, Chele is asleep now (1:34 am on April 21) and is resting. I guess now we just wait. I will (try to) sleep on this "bed" they have provided and wait until the nurse comes in and tells us it is time. Not sure how long that is, but it can't be too soon for me. I want my two ladies together and at home....
